Scorpio V2.0 has arrived : )
Re: Scorpio V2.0 has arrived : )
Messed with it a bit more yesterday evening. Found out that my existing (stock) alternator belt is just ling enough to work with the new set-up, so that's good.
I also reinstalled the front track arms and sway bar, as well as worked out putting the spindles/struts/brake adapters back together.
Looking at the driveshaft, this set-up needs one that's 2-3" longer than stock, so my old AL Aerostar DS I did up a while back is now too short.

Where do you get your header 'build' materials? I, for one, would be interested to see the assembly process of a header from a pile of bends.

OK, well I got a couple hours of work done on Sat.
Got the struts/spindles reinstalled. Hubs have been redrilled to 5x114.3. Still waiting in new rotors and pads.
Next I messed with the new driver manifold.
This is the crack on the bottom.
I made up a quick jig
And got to piecing something together.
I need a 2" hole saw to cut out for that 3rd runner, and I'll need to tweak the transition piece to fit the v-band clamp I'm going to be mounting. I'll probably add a piece of 1-1/2" pipe between it and the rest of the manifold when it's all said and done.

Very cool. Are those pipe Ls?
Not doing a 3-into-1 equal length, huh?

Yes, just pipe L's. The eventual plan is to have a turbo mounted over on the pass side, and the driver side will just feed into a crossover pipe to the turbo. No need for fancy equal-length headers here.xR4rally wrote:Very cool. Are those pipe Ls?

About a month ago, I put together a trans crossmember for the T-5. (Borrowing the concept from Colin)
Nice work - I always look forward to seeing your updates on this car.

Busy as usual with everything else BUT working on this. Last week I sat down and put togther a checklist of what needs to be done to get this finished. Ugh.
To that end, I finished up the manifold I started a while back. All it needs is to be coated.
Messing with the Y-pipe, the O2 sensor was stuck...as usual. I need to get the remnants of that out before I can bolt the exhaust back up in the car.

Re: Scorpio V2.0 has arrived : )
Brad, et. al, I have some images regarding Chuck's T5 conversion that I found on my hard drive that do not appear in this thread.
I don't recall where I acquired these. I believe he posted a link to a photo site a long time ago. But they concern the modification he did to move the shifter back on the T5 to line up with the Scorpio's shifter opening.
I am posting here in the interest of completeness.
Chuck's is but one approach to moving the shifter, but there are many others who have swapped a t5 into another vehicle and have dealt with this issue in a different ways.

Thanks for posting these pics Dean. I'm a little surprised how far back the shifter needed to be re-located. I'm guessing it was further back from factory location when all was done and said.
The one question I have is how was it re-sealed where the freeze plug was cut open.

I don't know, but Chuck obviously had access to a waterjet and a serious metal break, not to mention being a decent welder.
