Aux. shaft bearings

has anyone replaced the bearings on their aux. shaft. this is the small shaft that the distributor runs off of. i replaced mine today and i now cannot put the shaft back in. i think i am going to hone the bearings tommorow. i also had a hard time finding them because ford is no longer making them. let me know if anyone else has ran into this problem.

What tool did you use to install it?
German engineer: We custom fit every part in the Porsche engine.
Japanese engineer: You mean that you make every part wrong to begin with?

i used a bearing driver. the install was not the problem as much as the overall size of the bearings. i think i am going to hone them out tommorow.

The bearings should be the same as the cam bearings IIRC.

I don't think honing would be a good idea.

either the bearings are two different sizes and you have them in the wrong order(i dont think that is possible but cant remember) or you boogered one or both of them putting them in. get a cam bearing installer and you will not repeat the problem. the tool can be spendy so maybe you want to borrow one.

Well since no one else answered yet...
Don't hone the bearing to make it fit. Pull out the bearings, get a new set and put them in with the correct tool. You can test fit them onto the aux shaft to be double sure that they are the right part. If they are right and it binds then you didn't put them in perfectly straight, which they have to be.

Hi Chris,
How did you remove the old bearing? Does it pull out or drop down into the oil pan using a drift?
Anyone?
