Used are OK

Post by ginandtonic » Sat Mar 22, 2008 1:12 pm

Mine are broken, bent, twisted, everthing but how they should be. I've managed to clean up the lens but the ball type ended bolts that allow for articulation the the lamp housing, the clips holding them in and the rear mounting/adjustment brackets are either missing or broken.

Any chance of selling me the entire headlight set-up (driver and pass) to where I can just bolt them in? I have to do a little fabrication to fix a few FU's from the previous owner but not too bad.

Also, are the lights electrical receptors common and can I but them at a parts house?

Thanks,
Mark

I gotta say...that part shouldn't be auctioned, yet; or, it should be sold to the MCA alone with right of repurchase later for auction on Ebay. It's too valuable as a model for use to size up/compare against as many other OEM wheel well liners that someone could find to identify the better alternate part available, from JYs or dealership parts counters, for XRs.

It makes me cry...

Not a bad point/idea-- mine are slowly crumbling away from the bottom up. I'm sure I could just crumble them into bits with my hands...

I have good used front & rears for comparason purposes, so no worries and hey when I'm selling parts this rare imagine what I have that I'm not selling!
Also want to I add that every liner I've tried has been pretty disappointing. $10 J/Y ones are no big deal, toss them into the bin when they don't work out - but a couple hundred on the aftermarket ones our vendors sell and its a little hard to just pitch them when you're unhappy with the fit/results. :?

I've wondered how the Scorpio wheel well liners line up next to the XRs; anyone know?

They show these to fit either the XR or Scorpio, so I'd imagine they're close.

Just out of curiosity

Post by salukixr4ti » Fri Apr 04, 2008 11:03 pm

Mike, How flexible are those? I'm curious from the stand point of what material would be desirable to use as a replacement. I wonder if a composite material would be to rigid. I've as yet never had rears on any of my cars, and wonder if there's an element of flexibility required, even for installation.
This ain't no disco...It's Wichita.
