Hood Struts

I got in an accident several months ago. The hood was damaged and I tried to repair it, but it didn't look very good. Last week I found a hood in Pick a Parts that is in very good condition. It is for a Scorpio that had the two front struts. They were missing on the hood I got. Does anyone know the part number for these struts or another more common car that uses these struts?

I replaced my old ones with Mighty Lift 95230.

Did any US Scorps come with any hood struts? I thought that was a Euro-only...

The struts for the hood were standard on the 1989 Scorpio. Where do you get the Mighty Lift struts?

The old Trak Auto. I took an old one in for comparison, since, of course, they had no listing.

I see Auto Zone sells the brand. Maybe they can order it. They don't list that part number, that I could find.

Advance lists the number, but it's a Dorman brand with no picture (it is a lift support). http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... mber=95230

This might be a good place to order by size: http://www.autopartsbylou.com/lift-supp ... ?ext=22.91. I didn't find anything else in Google search. Prices look decent.

Struts for hood are 22" long, rear hatch are 20" long.

Hood struts Ford OEM 88 GB-16c 826-AA

Rear struts available from Rock Auto
SACHS Part # SG304013 {Ball Socket End Fittings: 20" Ext. 12" Compr. Length} Trunk Lid Support $17.24 each

Rock Auto doesn't list any for hood.

You would have to get bolt with ball end to mount these for hood because rear hatch uses ball socket on both ends when fitting onto hood that OEM designed for eyelet on hood.

or just use metal rod assembly for 88.

This is not the car with the Mighty Lift 95230 struts (I have 2 88s I've modified). I think these are OEM struts, and they are 21" from center to center of the ball socket. The part number on them looks like RB8795230.

Thanks to all of you for your help. This is great. I'll have it fixed pretty soon. I still have to finish my Ford Capri. It has a small oild leak from the oil pan gasket.
