The Official Wheel Spec & Picture Thread

Post by DPDISXR4Ti »

Let's try to keep this thread fairly regimented with no more than three pics to each post - one of the car and another, a close-up of the wheel. Plus, include as much detail about the wheel as possible. If a factory wheel, indicate OEM application and model years. Here goes....

Rota Slipstream 16x7 40mm Offset Steel Gray
Wheel weight 13.5 lbs
Clears coil-over lowered suspension without spacer utilizing 205/50 Kumho tires. Rear wheels are effectively spaced out 5mm however, due to use of thicker-hat Contour rotors (vs TC). Note, this almost eliminates the hub-centricity.

I'm looking at getting some wheels for mine, i'm leaning towards 16s because i don't wanna deal with rubbing issues and rubber band tires. The problem is that i'm having a hard time actually finding 16s in the styles that i like. There's a wheel shop locally that sells just about any kind of wheel you can think of but damn near everything wheel skips 16'' in size (15/17/18/etc).

Is it really a big deal to run 17s? What kind of offset should i look into for a 17? If 16s will get me wider rims then i'd rather go that route, plus i don't want such a low profile side wall so if they have to be ultra low profile then i'd rather go 16 for that reason as well.

What i REALLY want are some CCW Classics:
http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelprofi ... id=classic

The only problem is that i have a mental block on spending 3k on rims

Anyone know of a hookup on this style of rim that won't cost an arm and a leg?

I'm on the hunt for a nice set of 16s too, just to round things out, and for better fit with the Cosworth arches and bumper. Here's a few other wheels I have...

These are Mullins (CSA) 17x7.5 with BFG G-Force 205-50-17. I dunno who measures tires for BFG, but I suspect a little creative license was used. They're MUCH larger than any other 205-50 I've seen. Took a little massaging to get them in there. I'm going with 235-40 and 215-40 on these next time. I think they're 35mm offset. My new 300mm brake setup (available soon!) fits under these, not sure about a 16" rim.
Image
These are 17x7 Eagle Alloys. I think they're 40mm, with 215-45s Fit perfectly, too bad they're so blingy. Can't stand the chrome. Looks OK on a black car though. I got them with a car that needed a little love...
Image
I really like these 15s. These are Wolfrace Thrust, NLA, but there's a great copy available from www.batinc.net 15x7 THese have Dunlop 8000s on them, another creatively sized tire at 205 55 15. They make the wife's Michelins in the same size look like temporary spares. The stack of 4 was 6 inches taller by comparison. The Wolfrace 15s clear the big brakes just fine, and are REALLY light.

Sorry no close up's. Running Compomotive MO1770's 17x7 with an ET of 35. Tires are Kumho 711's 205/40/17. I have stock springs but will put my BAT 1" drops on soon. I did have a slight rubbing issue when I would hit dips in the road at speed. front pass side I had to trim some plastic and bend the fender lip a little. Next time I will see if I can stuff a much fatter tire in the rear. seems to be plenty of room for them, thinking a 235 maybe 255

TSW Revo 17x7, 40mm offset, ~24 lbs! - same wheels stupid Saleen used on their Focus. Clears strut by less than 5mm and the tires rub at full lock but not bad.

Image

Wish they were 17x7.5 and 30mm or somewhere near there if they all had to be the same, or 17x7 35mm in front and 17x8 25-30mm in back. Looks like a spaceship. It would also have been nice if they weren't 24 pounds for the wheel alone :(

Tires are Kumho Ecsta 711 205/40/17.
Wish I'd tried 215/40 in front and maybe 225/40 in the rear. If I keep these wheels, I'll do that when it's time to change tires. Didn't have money at the time.

I love the design, but not the weight or the offset and they're not available wider.

That's what you run, right? Pop one off and weigh it.

Brilliant!

P.S. Don't anyone get all offended if I sweep through this thread every now and then and clean it up.

Kazera KZ-V Grey
16X7 ET45 4X108 (Made for Focus) 15.2lbs-ea
20mm spacer in front to clear stock perches, 16mm in back (though uneeded)
Falken Azenis 215/45s
**NLA BUT, These come in 17" but I dont think for X108, only X114 and X100 (Hondas) AND, ASA makes them for Kazera and they have ones that look just like them still in manuf. Check out Motegi M12/MR12 if you like these too, more money but same numbers.

Oh, Evil as for those rims you wanted to, TSW makes one called the Kyamlimai or something that looks very similiar, its made for Contour SVT so look that up on TireRack or better... They come in 16 and 17" too so you could have your cake and stagger it too 8) for about 600$.

Ok... lets try that again, here is the left front tire and wheel 18x9's with 245 45 18 tires, I'll get a side view later.

Ben

They are Jongbloed Racing wheels and they are the JRW 330 with a bolt patten.

Now I will say this, yes I over payed for them but the guys (Jondbloed RW) are a half hour away and they work very very hard, coming to my house 6 time with different offsets to get the wheels just right, price was 3000 big ones but wait for the side view, I just have to put the car back together.
