Joe came by yesterday to lend a quick hand on mounting and stuff. Liam (autoX guy) was over helping me drink beer and start the rear disc conversion.

Anyway, got a fun (ny) video of the new exhaust as well

Giddy like a school girl.

first up - custom made brake cooling ducts. Get ready to laugh. Total project investment in this was under $30. Need some final tweaks but should be good to go.

Brake cooling scoop where fog light used to be:

clearance to damper and coilover assembly:

yes, i'll scrub these clean. dont worry. i was just super giddy and HAD to put them on the car right away.

rear shot showing how much is protruding. I dont think i can roll the fenders out THAT much.

Image

rear clearance to coilover assembly about 3/4" to 1" - plenty of room.

Glad to see FJ'ers over here. Hopefully I can sell my X1/9 and snag an XR4ti soon.

Okay, apparently you need to clearance a little more than i thought to get these to fit and be able to actually turn. My friend Adam came by, and we attacked my car, yet again. It felt so wrong. So very wrong. But the end result makes me kind of smile.

Yes, i'm grimacing. No, that didn't bring me pleasure.

finishing up with the angle grinder...

and now, enough room. bumper not cut up yet. (that followed)
Image

figured some sort of flare would be better than nothing. pacer performance universal 'flexi' flares from EPDM material. 2 1/8" flare.

finalization...
Image

putting the wheels back on
Image

needs more 'pieces of flare' but you get the idea.
Image

other wheel getting snugged
Image

finalization of cosmetics not yet complete. this was before making sure everything fits. luckily, it does. this is the SAME ride height as the rear, just looks higher now.

Still have some light cosmetic stuff to do, but ran out of time.
