Oh, dang! These Carbon Fiber hoods are tempting

Browsing for parts on ebay, I found this little gem.

I'm curious how much it weighs. I've never handled anything CF that size, but considering how much the stock hood weighs, I'm sure there is a vast difference.

A friend of mine bought one for his honda. It is really light compared to the steal hood. Why don't you ask them through E-bay and report back to us.

Also could you see if they have a website showing all there other Carbon Fiber products.

Bear in mind, it's built on a fiberglass core, so it's not "uber-lightweight" like my <5 lb Gene hood. Also, it's got a Euro profile, so if under-hood clearance is tight, you may have issues.

The Euro profile hood fits fine on the XR4Ti without the hood liner. I have one on my road car. The problem is that the throttle linkage may contact the hood under heavy acceleration (depending on the condition of your mounts - they definitely will if you have a broken motor mount). Check out the first few pictures in my road car thread:

I was so sure you'd be calling out the exact weight of the Gene Young hood when I saw you had posted in this thread. Damn, those late nights as a new daddy catching up on you already? :P

Still need the Cossie vents for the hood, too as that auction is the hood just as you see it - no vents.

Same hood as at http://www.deftracing.com - except the CF vents are included with the one at deftracing and the price reflects this.
