It'll be a miracle if we ever have both Merkurs running and driveable at the same time! I guess I was being silly Saturday morning when I thought by the end of the weekend mine would be driveable and yours would be running. The progress continues, though. Hopefully the WTFoRD will be ready for its test and tune on the 21st, and I expect both of them to be ready to rip by the CART members only event on 4/11. Keep up the good work, and thanks for all the help on mine.

Went out after dinner to finish tying this together. Tighten a couple coolant lines, hook up the instrument grounds (still need to put some of the "interior" back together), put in some royal purple purple ice super coolant stuff, add coolant, 5 quarts of mobil 1, mobil 1 oil filter, some power steering fluid, double check wiring connections and torque on some random bolts, put the car on the battery charger, cross my fingers...

Batt switch on.
Key in, turned to "on". Wait for fuel pressure.
Cross fingers again. Push button to start car and ...

she fired right up. immediately.

Crappy cell phone video. I'll get a better one tomorrow or this weekend.

excuse the noise, the exhaust isn't hooked up yet. so what you're hearing is about 7" of 3" downpipe.

And matt - it's a miracle. They both run.

I'll try to pick up a timing light tomorrow (joe, can i borrow yours? I still cant believe i dont own one. I might just go buy one)

Sure. I'll throw it in the car now and drop it off when I stop by after work.

I need to stop by Columbia Ford first before they close and order/buy a thermostat first and then I'll be over. Hopefully I get out of work on time.

Did you start mine and video your motor with a crappy cell phone camera to make yourself feel better and pretend that sick looking new motor actually runs?!
Kidding - I guess miracles do happen! Now if we could just get a seat and a shock installed in mine.....
I guess the real miracle will be when they both move (very quickly) under their own power.
Joe - don't bring your car to Ray's house; it may never leave. His garage is a black hole for merkurs.

Matt - even with both cars having open downpipes, mine actually sounds a bit different. Meaner. Like it's sitting next to yours growling. Taunting. Saying "bring it on, bitch. I destroyed you last year and i'll destroy you this year."

Or it has to do with the fact that my downpipe is only 6" long right now. One or the other. ;)

Got both cars timed last night. Matt's is set to 12.5673 degrees before top dead center (or between 12 and 13 degrees). Mine's set for 12.1426 degrees.

My car with the A237 sounds nasty with just a downpipe. My muffler mellows out the chop, which kinda sucks.

The car moves under it's own power. Coming up the driveway in 2nd gear... if you dip into the throttle again the rear tires just start to spin. Going to be a "fun" season. Of course, i was on cold azenis, so i hope to crap the 710's are able to get a little heat.

I've got a coolant weep that i need to track down. I think it's the upper radiator hose to t-stat and lower radiator line to secondary fitting.

Got a couple of videos (just of the start up, car is still "off the road" - hah)

Slightly better than crappy cell phone start up procedure video. OMG so exciting </sarcasm>

No real updates - have been working on matt's car mostly and the house and stuff. Car is up and running and is in-****ing-sane. Instant boost and power to spare. Gonna be a crazy season.

Did a little red LED that comes on when the car is running, a la terminator.

Nice, I can't believe what a great mod the Cosworth housing is. If ford had only made the XR with that housing and a decent first gear ratio, they probably couldn't have made the XRs as fast as they sold, really turns them into a fun car.
