I keep getting sidetracked with other things, Since the last update I built a car to run in the Chump Car series for $500.00 race cars. That race is over an we won't have another for a few months.
In the mean time I have been working on the details of the XR.
I have the fuel system put in, all of the intercooler piping, the turbo oil system, the brake lines, the throttle cable and brackets.
Right now I am working on a mount for the crank trigger wheel sensor.
I am getting pretty close to doing the wiring. Once I get the wiring done and get it running, then I can take it all apart and paint everything, and put it all back together.
I am going to get some pictures posted of the latest work soon.

Gene, that's wonderful.
What are the regs for the fuel filler neck like that?

Re: XR Chassis mods
It's been a long time but here is a small update on the car.
I have the car finished enough to go to the track, I plan on going this weekend to a track day with Tracksunlimited.net at Nashville Superspeedway.
I took the car to the dyno last night to see how my tune was on the Megasquirt.
I have a stock engine, stock turbo, Bob40 exhaust manifold, 65mm throttle body, to a custom made open upper intake, a giant intercooler with 3" piping, stock injectors, and MS1 running the Extra software. The MS uses a 36-1 trigger wheel and I am running wasted spark with a Ford coil pack, no distributor.
I have the stock wasetgate connected straight to manifold pressure, no boost controller.
I ran out of injector at about 5500 rpm. The boost crept up to 20psi at 6000rpms peak HP was 287, and peak TQ was 277.
See the graph below.
287HP should be OK for a car that weighs 2000lbs.
I will get some pics at the track an post them and report back how it all goes.

EXCELLENT power!! Stock head and cam too?
Would you mind sharing your fuel and spark tables? I'm kinda curious to compare them to mine.

Re: XR Chassis mods
along with this, I'm curious as to what fuel was being run. I have only managed 286rwhp and I have considerably more done. I am stuck with 91 octane though.hEaT wrote:EXCELLENT power!! Stock head and cam too?

Re: XR Chassis mods
I am running a stock head and cam, on 93 octane gas.
The engine I would guess has over 200K miles on it.
I will post up my MSQ files when I get a chance.
I guess one of the things helping me is the intercooler, the inlet air temp was 99 deg, at 20psi.

Re: XR Chassis mods
Definitely helps. With an Evo IC with around the same IAT's, T3/T4 50trim, stock intake and head, ported E6, I made 243whp and 305wtq on 17psi. Not sure how much the NPR IC I threw in helped and the 40Bob plenum.
Still curious to see the MSQ and the tables. Thanks Gene!
