Would any 16's clear the front brakes though?

Yeah they'd clear, barely. The 16x7 pony wheels and the ones i got from the blood monkey both clear within a couple mm.

Ben - yes i have thought about it. I'm leery to go to a full slick, as one of our lots has a lot of broken glass in the paddock, so "real" race tires tend to get punctured, but the A6's / 710s fair better.

Thing is, i'm on a huge budget (two kids); and weight removal and small fab work for me is minimal dollar.
You have any good links to some low offset ET 10-20mm 16 x 9 wheels? It's nice to shop around even if the money isn't on the table for that kind of thing right now. Also, wheel weight makes me wonder - since our courses aren't as smooth as most, this might definitely affect why my car porpoises a bit on cornering, the konis just cant keep up with that and the wheel weight. I've been toying with the idea of replacing the fronts - going with those shiny inverted bilsteins... and ambition quickly outpaces budget, yet again.

Maybe i'll run some crazy low offset wheel that is rediculously wide, stretch some skinny tires on it, set the car on the ground, and become part of the stance scene? :haha

I'm hoping to get the last couple AN weld on fittings put on today. Got delivered last night.

Raise a glass, it's new years eve and i spent a few hours playing in the shop. I've wanted to do this particular mod for years - mostly because it's super reliable - but secretly because i want it to look omfg amazing...

Almost done. Waiting on parts. Again. Lower fitting from water pump does not want a 90 like i thought (interferes with oil pan, pulley, or puts the line on an angle impossible to mate with the other fitting) so i now have a spare 90 degree and am waiting on a straight hose end - just a note for anyone else wanting to do this - other option is weld on a 2 or 3" 1" ID tube extension, then you can run a 90, but anyway...

All fittings tig'd, repainted the water pump and t-stat housing just because. I'm seriously happy with this thus far. I've wanted to do this for years but never was able to. Note: coolant sensors in the expansion tank - no more lines to the lower intake manifold :)

TIG'ing to cast is surprisingly easier than i thought.

Painted - i was almost not wanting to put this in the car, i love how steel looks when it's welded like that.

Installed, mostly, missing lower radiator hose, and some t-bolt clamps from the charge tubing. These are the only coolant lines in the car now.

Next up - paint under the hood white again. i'm sick of the black. Too dark. and it's flaking. Everything else is nice and shiny and... the engine bay itself looks like ass.

That's an aftermarket elbow for a DSM that i modified to my application.

Outloud thinking makes me think, tho :) Keep the ideas coming.

Got some work done today. Started with relocating the wiring for the ECT and gauge sendor for coolant temp. Since my ECU (Megasquirt) doesn't need the factory fan sendor - it runs purely on ECT temp - i didn't relocate that.

Then i got into - do i really need the VAM / Boost Control Solenoid / other misc wiring that i just dont have a need for anymore? And i spent a couple hours isolating and removing that. Cleaned everything up a bit, PET Sleeved / heat shrunk the relocation wiring, added a ground (you all know me by now) to the coolant tank to ensure a good signal, and decided to really quickly prime under the hood white - ultimately going to remove the motor, sandblast everything and do it proper, but for now, it's a lot brighter.

Anyway, i'm really happy with how this looks - i know, looks dont mean a thing, but i like just sitting in my shop and staring at the engine bay now, it gives me motivation to do other things.

That's exactly what I had in mind, when we were bouncing ideas around for the coolant tank. Looks awesome! I need to get on mine now.

You need some two-wire sensors, son.

Gonna put a hose on that bayonet below the pressure cap? If it pukes, it'll puke on your sensors.

Nate, the ECT sensor is two wire, it's just heat shrunk to the sensor itself for aesthetics.

John, yes i have a small hose i put on the puke nozzle to keep it from muddying up my engine bay, the pictures were taken during fitment and all that :)

Got the fans in after work today, and decided to take another picture... i'm really liking how this is looking. Still want to pull the motor and re-shoot the engine bay. Not a show car tho. Not a show car.

No, that is my attempt at mixing up proper automotive 2 part primer (full face respirator, latex gloves, etc) and using a small roller to apply paint to areas without worrying about overspray. Came out okay, but i think i will eventually pull the motor, sand blast the bay, and actually shoot paint. Maybe later this off season, maybe next off season. We'll see how other projects pan out. Main reason for doing this, as you know, was to brighten the bay so work in "the field" was easier.
