WOW!

Haven't visited this forum for a while. I was looking back at pictures of this car, I really like the look of them with the cladding and bumpers painted. I wasn't a fan of the brown interior either, but it makes a change from the grey ones, wish it had tan leather seats.

I heard the guy I sold the car to blew the head gasket on it, I'm pretty certain I told him the engine only had 500 miles on it after putting back together, and that he might want to re-torque the head.

The unfortunate reality is that the comment probably never registered. Hopefully it doesn't result in the car "going away". I was re-reminded a couple months ago while cruising the truck section of the junkyard how many otherwise good cars/trucks get junked over one thing going wrong. I was looking for a part for my '91 F150 and most of the trucks in the yard were newer and in better condition than mine! But hey, it made finding the parts I needed easy.

I dunno if it's the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back, or our "everything's disposable" instant gratification society.
I can't help but notice that when I'm parking my 1999 DD car, that it's the oldest thing in almost any parking lot. There's NO cars around showing any surface rust. I don't think I know of many people at all that actually own their vehicles, by that I mean they've finished paying for them. When faced with any kind of repair bill, the no-down-payment-0% interest shiny new car looks good. Labor rates are insane, and the "free estimate" seems to have been scrapped in favor of the $200+ diagnostic charge.
It's not a hobby, it's an obsession!

I was looking for a picture of some phone dial wheels, and found this one. I figured I would add it to this old thread, as it was how the car looked when I sold it.
