Re: DSP to SM build
Ben, to answer your question - no, i do not have a shimmy. I am using the (gasp!) rubber trans mount, single piece D/S, those hard motor mounts, rear is solid mounted with nylon STA bushes. Front has those "black" edition poly bushes that grayson got us. Using heim joints for top mounts for all dampers.
Under high boost - what is "high boost" and i'm having trouble envisioning this shimmy.

That's ok I'm thinking it could be 2 things, 1 is the clutch, 2 maybe the right engine mount, Changing both next week.Ray wrote:Ben, to answer your question - no, i do not have a shimmy. 18lbs at 3200rpms is high boost for me.
I'll have Chris drive my XR at the National's and ask him what he thinks.

Re: DSP to SM build
Drove the 90 sec course today, I don't have the results yet but will put the results up when I get them, what a day, I had a lot of trepidation when I was driving out to this event, thinking about what I've done to the XR over the last 2 weeks.
Change left rear toe out by -1/32 or .014 shim
lower and change the rear springs back to the 700lbs because I have a 55% to the front and 45% to the rear.
Replaced both shock to new ones.
Did not change the front toe like I though I would, because I said what the hell.
Corner weighed the car.
Lots of little thing that really don't help in the handling of the XR but help with the weight. Great day I know I'm going to sleep well tonight.
Going out right now to weigh the XR to double check and make sure I'll make weight for the National's.

Re: DSP to SM build
Had A double event this weekend, Lotus club had a great event that was fast but YOU had to look ahead a lot, XR worked just like it did at crows landing and their was a 6 time SS National Champ there and got that car by .700, don't know if that's enough but the XR feels great.
Next went Oakland, the course look great when I walked it but by the 4th run group the surface was bad, so I felt like I was driving the rain, learn a lot.
Things to do:
Check the weight to make so I'll be ok
Check alignment
Change oil
bleed brakes again
make "L" bracket for seat
Pull a small wire through
Steel ball in the PVC
Clean the XR inside and out
Mount up rain tires
Go win the National's, That's all.
