Re: DSP to SM build
bad day for me drove like you know what, a lot of OPR on the front tires could not turn in very well, not fun day have a new goal for tomorrow to get into the trophies only 1 .4 seconds behind for a trophy, I know how to beat the EVO's but not the GTR or 240 SX,

Hope you beat a GTR.
An XR beating one of those techno boxes would be awesome!

Re: DSP to SM build
So Things didn't work out like I thought, One being I finish 7th but how about Chris Grayson 5th and his co-driver Gordon Maciulewi 2nd .004 out of first, very cool. Day 1 was just different, last year made up time like I usual do, this year not so much I just didn't get it, I made up .350 tens?after all 3 runs but after looking at all the results no one made up time in a big way, Ok I feel better now. Next was..how did the car feel, great a little loose, need to buy a wing, add down force with little weight, a little more power, move weight to the back, next year.
The biggest thing for me was the XR's weight, I have been working very hard at making the XR as light as possible, well when I weigh the XR for the last time at the house it weigh 2341lbs I felt great that I got there, min weight wise, well I added 2.5gal of gas and that's about 17lbs of gas Ok that should be good, after I ran the west course you get weighed and it was at 2352lbs and the 3 guys standing there said great job and I felt good with that but I realized I burned about 1 gal of gas, I said " Ok I may burn 1 to 1.5 gal but not 2gals, after my last run of the National's they weigh you again and I came to 2339 and I said "AHHH! come on car!" because I had made up 2 places and I was feeling pretty good at that point, One of the guys said turn the car around and when I did it came out to 2343lbs WOW! that's great and that same guy said " we have about a 7mph wind" How about that, I get 4lbs of down force at 7 mph HEHEHE. That made my whole National's.

Re: DSP to SM build
Seriously. 4lbs of force is awesome at that low of speed.
Sorry the rest of the trip didn't pan out exactly how you wanted. Still very impressive however, you are competing against much newer metal.
What happened to the 240 mid day day 2?

Re: DSP to SM build
Is that when SM ladies was running? I think that's what your talking about, anyways they broke a lower control arm, they welded it up and ran that afternoon. The other thing is the 240SX had 315 tires all the way around, well with the tires I'm running they have 9 inches of extra tire on the ground, I know that's not the only reason they won but I believe that's a big partcatapultkid wrote:Seriously. 4lbs of force is awesome at that low of speed.

Ok. I didn't realize it was ladies.
Wow 315s. Start chopping, its hard to compete with hot and sticky 315s. We have a few vetts here that run a 345 Rear, 315 Front. Super fast.

Re: DSP to SM build
Well since the National and with the disappointing result, it just go's to show no matter how well you think your prepared The National's humbles you.
I found out that I'm missing some key items for making my XR competitive in the National level, I was thinking of bailing on the SM build but after the GRM article came out, I felt like tyo keep her and start on the little things to make the XR more competitive.
So...the new mods since I've been home are a new front splitter, make the rear spoiler bigger so that it will work in the air it's giving. Reading up on aero that go's over a car and found the mirrors are a big problem when it come to the air that go's around the car, so looking for some really small mirrors. Just found out this weekend about a power steering unit that weigh in at 2 lbs, so instead of depowering my rack I will be going this way instead.
So some small stuff but keeping the car and looking foward to kicking some butt in the San Diego National Tour in April.
Pic's are coming as soon as I find what's going on with my photobucket account.

Do you even need mirrors in SM? Make block off plates!
