n/a 2.3 dual plug head
Anyone got the info for this swap? i have heard it done before, and realize that i'm going to have a higher compression ratio, however i'd like to hear about some true stories.

With both DPH motors I've built, I made several other changes at the same time, so it's hard to say what's responsible for increases in HP, torque, fuel mileage, and drive-ability, all of which have improved.MerkXRTurbo wrote:Is there a noticeble difference? Go have at it.
If you're using stock turbo pistons, the SCR will go up to about 8.3:1, which is no issue at all. In fact, with my second motor I went with forged flat-tops, so I'm running somewhere around 9.3:1.
Just be aware that you will need less ignition advance with the DP head due to the more efficient dual flame-front. If you try to run a stock 2.3T timing calibration, you'll be asking for trouble. It will ping, especially at part throttle tip-in.

The compression increase is relatively insignificant; I bet you get more of a pop from the more efficient combustion, but I won't try to convince you it's a monumental increase.Nick A wrote:i would imagine that there would be a slight increase in HP at lower rpm vs the stock head. just my guess on how compression figures usually affect things like this.
Did these heads come from ford in Roller cam version only? ... going this route my knock 2 birds out with one stone
Yes, all DPH's have the roller cam.

You should, but I know of people who have successfully used the stock NA valves without issue. I just used a set of stock exhaust valves out of a turbo head. Head gasket is the same. I'm using that relatively new white-marble colored one - I forget the name - Cometic maybe?
