The thingiverse website has had issues recently.

I posted a DIY e-bike battery case a while back and it took 2 months to show up in my personal account or to show up in a site search.
But I could still post a link in a forum and people could get to it that way.

Then a few days ago it showed up in my account and was searchable. At that point I posted the Scorpio steering bushing an it showed up instantly.

It kind of sucks. The way your stuff gets attention is when it is first posted.

So my e-bike battery case missed that process and consequently there were not many downloads by others (about 50). But the Scorpio steering bushing received 175 downloads the first day it was posted

Eaton - I can't even get to your model. Can you see it from within your thingiverse account?

Curious as to how you modeled the steering column bushing; did you remove an original one from your car?

YMMV

Does that 175 download number mean 175 Scorpio owners are on Thingiverse (hah)?

I don't think 175 downloads means 175 Scorpio owners. I suspect that some of it is automated scrapers that steal 3d models from thingiverse in order to post on their own separate 3d model sites. Then you have to keep in mind that it is an international audience. So there could be a bunch from Europe/Baltics that have Sierras or Scorpios. Then there is the odd mechanic/restoration shop that has gotten into 3d printing and they are just building a library of stuff "just in case they come across it".

As for how I created the model... I'm a software guy. I used the free program OpenSCAD. I pulled the dimensions off of what was left of my original

Go download OpenSCAD here https://www.openscad.org/downloads.html and install it.

Start OpenSCAD and paste the following code into the editor and then press "F6", and then wait a few moments...

$fn=140;
difference()
{

union()
{
translate([0,0,10.75])
{
cylinder(d1=49.3,d2=45.1,h=4.5,center=true);
}

translate([0,0,5.25])
{
cylinder(d=40.9,h=6.5,center=true);
}

cylinder(d=50,h=4,center=true);
}

union()
{
cylinder(d=35,h=23,center=true);
cylinder(d=27,h=27,center=true);
}

}

Oh yeah... and by the way...

It goes without saying that all Scorpio owners should check the condition of their Steering bushing.
They are 30+ years old and they don't last forever..
