That dosent sound right to me, if you were to transfer the eec along with the tranny I would think that as long as you transfered any associated transmission wiring you wouldnt need anything extra to get the car to go into od...There were a couple of merkurs at carlisle with a4ld's in them... Im sure someone here knows more about doing that swap...check the search and see if its there..if not then post it and see what happens.
where'd I put that damned hammer?? :-D

I think we're answering questions he didn't ask ...or maybe we're just making up the missing details.

So let's start over... You have a 85 XR - check, we got that much. What transmission does it have? :?

yaeh, I have a 85 XR4Ti. and I have already said in this topic, that I have a manual T9 transmission. I want to put intto my car LA3 EEC, but one man sells an LB3. so, my question is: is LB3 the same as LA3? and will the results be the same like with LA3. if I do all the rewiring, big VAM and intrecooler.
85 XR4Ti in Estonia. one of the three ones :)

Okay, I do see that now - my bad. Yes, there will be no issues running a LB3 on your T9-equipped car, assumming the swap to the bigger VAM and proper wiring changes. The logic in the LB3 to run the A4LD will just be ignored, since it's obviously not needed. The calibration of the LB3 is very similar to the LA3. You might actually see slightly better fuel mileage out of the LB3 vs. LA3, as the fueling is a bit leaner.
