do you still have the flange on the non fitting manifold? would it be possible to just redo that one straight out to allow hood clearance?

with larger runners, of course.

I've still got it, but some guy has offered $50 to buy that entire manifold as it sits (not at all completed) and the flange is going with it. I'll just pick up another B234F manifold at the junkyard and use that in confunction with the cossie manifold.

Did you ever look at a Saab 9000 manifold? I recall that when Don Haulsee was considering this project he was thinking about using the Saab part in some way.

I guess I never did take a close look under the hood of a 9000. Can't say they're very common in wrecking yards around here.

Thanks for the tip, though - if the bore spacing is close enough I'll have to add it to my (very short) list of possibilities.

Why not ask Bob40 to create a custom intake that will work with a Merkur? He makes custom 2.3 intakes already.

Must be a mid-west vs. northeast thing - I've got Saabs all over the place at the junkyards I usually visit. If you need Don's e-mail, let me know - I was just trading messages with him over the weekend.

You're right - it must be a regional thing! Our junkyards are stuffed to the brim with rusty old Corsicas, Celebrities, Taurus', Fieros, K-cars, Escorts, and Pontiacs.

Oh, we've got plenty of those too - I think that's pretty universal. Actually, the thing I've seen a very rapid increase in lately is Contours - they might be the most common car in the Ford section now. My sister had one, and it was a whole new experience going to the junkyard looking for parts for one. When I needed some body panels, I found not only the correct part in near-perfect condition, but the matching color (had a choice, actually) - it was easy to return a "totalled" car to the road for less than $100.

Funny thing on the '80's Celebrity - I worked at a ComputerLand back then, and the owner of the store thought they were the best car ever - he went through three of them during the four years I was there!

isn't the 2.5 contour like 8 sec 0-60? that's hardly fast... barely adequate. anything under 7 is adequate. anything under 6 is fast. anything under 5 is way fast. anything under 4 is ridiculous. anything under 3 is insane. woo!!!

*whew* k i'm done. i've never driven a 2.5 contour, but taint fast.

Yeah, I know... I was trying to do it the quick way and get one from the UK and let you keep yours..but that backfired on me. D'oh!

When are you going to be ready to sell yours? I'm really in need of one quickly. Carlisle is in less than six months!
