You obviously have never been on a country road.
On flat, open territory it is no more dangerous than on a track. It is almost the eqivelant of a race track. If you're not comfortable putting yourself in a little extra danger for fun, then ride the bus. It is no more dangerous than rock climbing. What you do for fun, is what you do for fun... just make sure that nobody else is going to get hurt, too.

When you think you have enough experience to stand up and tell someone who has spent the last 20+ year in the Fire Service who has to go out every 2nd night in the summer to cut some poor slob out of his 5.0 Mustang or HonDUH because they all thought they were big-time racers after a night of Playstation etc. then maybe, just maybe I'll show ya some respect.........
NOT!
Idiot!
shouldn't lump everyone together because some idiots want to ruin it all for us. more people die in accidents from not paying attention than in street racing.
I agree that more people that die in motor vehicle collisions from lack of attention etc. but that's a weak excuse for believing that street racing is OK.
The only lumping of anyone I put together is the STREET RACERS, not anyone else. How they got there & why is not my concern or problem. What they do after the fact when they either kill themselves or someone else IS!

#1 Suit yourself. I guess you can pick & choose what laws you will abide to.
#2 Yes it is dangerouse on a track but you have safety equipment. Also, you won't have a young kid ride out in front of you on a bike, or a father coming out of his driveway on his way into work for the late shift, and on & on....
#3 YUP! Now you're getting it.

#2 It's dangerous
#3 It's STUPID
#1 I won't respond to that
#2 It's dangerous on a track, too
#3 How's that? Because it's dangerous?

Right, exactly. Using this type of logic, DWI should be legal, since only .0142784 of the daily fatalities are as a result of a DWI-related accident.

#1 If you choose to blindly follow the gov't, then so be it.
#2 I'm not going to have a kid ride out in front of me. There's a difference between racing on selected public roads and racing on any public roads. Of course judgement goes along with it, but if there's a chance of a kid riding his bike out then I would agree with you. It makes no sense to say "All street racing is dumb because a kid could ride his bike out in front of you."
#3 You just agreed that it's dangerous on a track, too. What if you have a full roll cage and you race on back roads with good judgement? How's that different than a track? What if you take your street car to the stip on the weekend? Is that stupid because you don't have all the safety gear?

Glad you had time to look up the #'s Brad.
I guess some people just don't get it! It is sadly funny to see people try to justify breaking the law. Next thing it will be "Stupid Stop signs & Traffic Lights", or "gee, what laws can we break today because I don't like them"
Hey, let's go rob a bank. The $$ is insured.
Let's go burn down that building because I don't like how it looks.
Let's start a War............. oh I'm NOT going there..............
I've got to save this clip for sure! What a beauty. Did you actually read what you typed?
This has gone so far toward stupidity I can't even think of a come-back.
OK, you win. Now let's all go out and break some more laws. Baaaaaaaa

#1 ill give you that
#2 you never know whats going to pop out, deer, cat dog, kid, alexd, a drunk, a minibike...... thats a fact!
#3 is dangerous, but its in the MOST controlled enviroment.

You think I actually looked up the numbers Ian?!
Actually, the concept was semi-fresh in my mind, as I had visited Paul Kuettel's site some time in the past. He had a link to some anti-MADD site that talked about stuff like this. Admittedly, some of their points were valid, but some were not. One (non) point was the fact that "only" ~10% of vehicular deaths were DWI related, as if to say, that was insignificant. Then they went on to make the "point" that I raised above.
I suppose since most kids who play with matches don't burn the house down, we should encourage kids to play with matches???
oh no guys... watch out for the civic that runs 12.1! holy s#!+! 12.1... on slicks! again... need i say "$2500 late 80's camaro/firebird/mustang + turbo = 11's for under half of the price" anymore? 12.1 with a car that has so many aftermarket parts available that its not funny....pathetic.

i'd have to disagree. 12.1 seconds is fast. if you can make a stupid little economy car run low 12's, even on slicks, that's pretty darn quick.
the point you made with your camaro/mustang whatever is absolutely valid, but also the same point can be made with almost ANY new car today. does that make the new ZO6 pathetic? absolutely not.
