I absolutely would buy it if I could get it for $2500 or less. I might go as high as $3000.

I think that would get a stock XR to beat a WRX (which I drove the other day, BTW  )

It would also be cool if we could get a valve cover that said 'Merkur' on it.

not just merkurs, or mustangs.
and they dont have to be turbo'd either...
There is a much larger market than you guys seem to let yourselves know
Yes, but how many aluminum heads have been sold? I didn't see that many in Carlisle.
Um yeah, well, you see, there is a whole GREAT BIG world out there beyond merkurclub.com and Carlisle. :) Heck, even beyond the internet.

Someone probably memtioned it, but take for instance sand buggy guys. Some of those guys have 4 times the money into their buggies than I do in my XR and those are the cheap buggy guys.

Personally though, I'd rather have a Duratec... Even though it doesn't just "bolt up".

Yeah, there is a big world outside the internet. The dude that I bought my XR from didn't know alot about Merkurs, but he had visited Rapido several times (it's on my list of things to do, too, being less than 2hrs away) and he had never done any Merkur research or anything online.

Last time I looked at flow numbers the volvo 16V has better flow then the Esslinger aluminum D-port. you might be thinking of the ARCA head, which is not really meant for street cars.
I think Bob has a great idea, but doubt if this will happen - look how many people whine about the price of the Essy head (which is a GREAT deal, IMO). I don't see anyone ponying up $3-4K for a head. Yes, reality sucks!

V8's have been done before, no big deal :) search around for Jim DeBerrys conversion and look on merkurdesktop.com, there's a site with some pics and a writeup on installing a V8 using Jim's kit :)
