Man these things ARE worse than crack, Scorpio #3, 5th Merk

Post by milehighXR »

Yeah thats right. Rehab is NOT working. I just bought my wife her 3rd Scorpio. It's a black 89 with I'm not sure(nor do I care) how many miles are on it. The car is BEAUTIFUL :headbang :headbang . I only have to rattle can the stock spoiler, or buy the RS wing from the PO, and rattle can the grille, and the front license plate holder that he made from a neon. Pics later tonight, he even had the Scorpio floor mats :headbang . The biggest downside, is I may have to swap the trans for the one I just finished rebuilding. I need to diagnose this one first, before I do anything. He's made some other mods to the car as well, and I'll detail those with piccies.

He also gave me this: Image

It is a hard cover book about a 1/4 inch thick. He said it was a dealer piece(sales lit?). I have NEVER seen on before now. I wonder just how rare it is?

Part of the dealer training material?
Are you keeping, or selling?

The book or the car?

Keeping all... for now. We may sell the black early 88, but haven't decided. The trans in that car is fresh, and may get donated to the new car, as it will not motivate in D, but will move in 3. I have to diagnose it befoire I do much else.

I think the book is part of some sales lit that went out to potential customers that requested more info. If so that is a very expensive piece to mail out.

Well, when I was desperately trying to find a Merkur dealer in the Sacramento area I called the referral number several times and wrote to Detroit. All I got was a pamphlet with nothing entered under "Nearest Dealer", precedent setting for Ford's promotion of the new marque.

Notice the white faces gauges, euro rear panel treatment, and the electric pump for the always broken bulb pump for the lumbar. Also the extras defrost switch is to totally power down the EATC so it doesn't come on t start up. Yeah this cars is most assuredly warm feces :headbang

Just trying to horde them all for yourself huh? lol

The one I just picked up is a heck of a lot ruffer then I was hoping. Let alone the fact I didn't even get a key for it so I will just assume it doesn't even run.

Maybe 1 day I will find another one that I wont have to do a down to whats left of the bare metal resto to.

this thing is nice. I have to buy more keys as there is only one for now. He has 2 more that are much worse for the wear. I may yet buy those, we'll see. I know of another dude here that has 2 Scoprs, and an XR that wants to sell as of the last time I talked to him, but he has not responded to emails recently, so I'll have to knock on his door.

I have that hard cover book. I also have the exact same book in loose leaf form that was part of the dealers information book. Not sure what the hard cover book was used for but I believe it's pretty rare. Other than mine (purchaed in a box lot on Ebay) yours is the only other one I've seen.
