Merkur owners seem to think there sunroofs leak due to clogged drains. This is a myth. Take a look at my post and photos. The sunroof glass glue lets loss due to rusting of the sunroof frame. The sunroof gasket sits on top of the glass which forces water under the gasket and into the frame. The frame has a couple of 1/8 inch holes for drains,but it doesn't allow enough water out. Some water sits in and rusts the frame and eventually gets under the glue and the water enters the car. This 89 would get water under the ebrake recessed area and other places depending on the angle the car is parked out!!
