Polyurethane control arm bushings...which one??
Hello! I'm seeing SuperPro has two listings for control arm bushings for the XR. I'm just curious as to which one is the proper one.

Are you trying to show me bushing deterioration? If so. Do you have another brand to suggest other than SuperPro?

. Those bushings had very few miles on them; the car mostly sat under cover over concrete with good drainage.Jack_James wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 1:47 pm Are you trying to show me bushing deterioration? If so. Do you have another brand to suggest other than SuperPro?
Ask Jeff Herson (MPM) for his recommendation. I went with OEMs.

I don't recall; but I know I bought them on recommendations from others on the Listserve/Forum. I'm pretty sure Jeff Herson (et al) know which bushings are known to deteriorate like that.

I've never seen yellow polyurethane bushings before. I like the black graphite impregnated bushings from Energy suspension. Supepro is also graphite impregnated as well from what I recall. Those look so cooked lol thats insane, looks like a urethane bump stop for a strut lol.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 3:34 pm.Jack_James wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 1:47 pm Are you trying to show me bushing deterioration? Yellow poly ones were widely installed on Merks...until many deteriorated.
Bushings from Energy Suspension are strongly recommended by Alex Rummel (on FB) who knows his stuff.

Powerflex has full kits of bushing for the XR.
They also have a few different stiffness.
Superpro offers one location of bushing.
I'm not sure what energy suspension offers for the XR, from my knowledge, nothing.
For Mustang, and numerous other vehicles, they offer a lot.

Just tried a search on Energy Suspension, they list nothing for Merkur.my8950 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 11, 2025 8:58 pm Powerflex has full kits of bushing for the XR.

They do have by dimension, so if you want to measure and pray, then order and hope it works for you, that is an option.
Maybe there is a cross reference, or someone has cataloged the Energy Suspension bushings that may fit somewhere on a Merkur, that would be cool, and helpful, but my guess is no.

Re: Polyurethane control arm bushings...which one??
Ok. Well Superpro offers a full line for our cars. I'm really surprised that nobody has used them before. They're renowned for quality and fitment. I'm 100% not using oem control arm bushings. I'm wanting to go with a quality polyurethane bushing so I only need to do it once. I've never ran into deterioration from Superpro, Whiteline and Energy Suspension. Graphite impregnated bushings should last a lifetime if you're using the proper grease when installing them.
So nobody had any ideas what to suggest tho for manufacturer or part number? I know there's a lot of talk here but nobody has suggested much other than talk to other people lol yet here I am trying to talk to anyone.

This year I installed Rapido's control arm bushings.
See no reason to go/buy elsewhere.
Support our Vendor(s).
