Hello everyone,
I'm an 80's kid that had a 1985 XR4Ti from 1989-1991 that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, the steering rack went out and I was in no financial shape to get a new one, so it was traded in on a genuinely horrible Geo Metro. Following college I bought a new 1993 Miata that I still have and still enjoy driving during the warm months here in Michigan.
I recently visited a friend who lives in Florida and we ended up watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they fixed up an XR4Ti and that immediately sparked an interest which led me here.
My youngest son is a body shop technician and has been in the process of restoring a 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSi that was my best friends' car until he hit a deer with it a few years ago. He got the insurance payout and decided to keep the car, then gave it to my son as a "Fix it up and enjoy it" present. My friend also has a 1982 Porsche 911, so he's set for a fun car.
Anyway, a long story, but that episode of Wheeler Dealers hit something and I would really like to get another XR4Ti one day. I'm semi-retired now and have time and some money being set aside. I had been thinking of all the cool cars of the 80's and this one just stands out as something that was so unique and it was a riot to drive it around. I'm really glad to see that there is a community that is dedicated to this.
Ernie

Re: Hello.
An ultra low mileage blue XR just sold last week. I saw pictures of it and it still had the spring isolators installed. Those are usually removed after it is shipped to the US dealership. Last summer I helped clean up a very solid XR after the original owner passed away. It was a nice solid driver with sans sunroof and a 5 speed. Dad bought it for his son who just got his liscense. I wired the LA computer into regular gas mode, and some other stuff was put back to stock. Hope the young driver doesn't wrap it around a tree or anything. If you want an XR talk to Jeff and Mike and let them know your are looking.

Re: Hello.
I'll have to find a host for the photos of the Conquest. I'm heading up on a fishing trip for the next few days, so once I get that set, I'll post them.

Re: Hello.
I was in Sylvan Lake (next to Pontiac) for the last 12 years, post-divorce. I moved back to Saginaw to help out my elderly mom, so she can stay in her house. I still work part-time in Royal Oak to keep my sanity.
Here's some pictures of my sons' Conquest work. He just pulled the hood, panels and front end off the donor that I bought last fall for him. The donor has a blown engine and the rear end was sold prior to me buying it. You can also see the damage that the deer did to the front of my friends' car. It was/will be a great car. My friend bought it about 3 months after I got rid of my XR4Ti, which really bummed me out. Soon after, another friend picked up an Eagle Talon TSi, so for the last 35 years I've wanted another turbo 4 to keep up with them on drives, as my Miata is fun, but not able to keep up.

Re: Hello.
^^^ Those DSM intercoolers used to be the hot ticket for all sorts of turbo conversions/upgrades. I had one on-hand at one point but never used it. Pretty sure I sold it as I haven't stumbled across it in awhile.
