Just installed a PE EEC
That really woke it up! I was skeptical, but it really did make a difference. The biggest difference seems to be more torque in the low end, and a flatter torque curve overall.
Now all I have to do is fine tune my plug gaps, but I only have the patience to do that like once a day at most. 0.031 is still getting "blown out" above 4500 RPM/18 psi

Without having data printed out, or time slips I have to rely soley on seat-of-the-pants impressions; based on that, I'd have to say without a doubt, yes!Greenturbo wrote:do you find the computer had better WOT paramiters?

I'll jump in this thread as I just put a PE EEC in m y XR as well - no repinning necessary (as needs to be done with the LA3 EEC), just ground pin # 30 to the body. Grounding pin 30 will keep the EEC in "high octance" mode as the SVO's had a regular/premium switch running to #30. FWIW, IMHO, the installation of the big VAM and PE EEC made a really big difference - esp. down lowrobyn wrote:did you need to repin any thing

If you have strong stock pumps you will be okay, but at almost twenty years old, there's a good chance the stockers won't be up to the task. A lot of people go with the Walbro high flow/high pressure unit.
