Heat rises, so it will heatsoak a little while sitting still but once your moving and have a Cossie grille that will be long dissipaited 8)
This new version we put a small air gap between the rad and IC - you could sneak some rubber in there or a phelonic plate as an additional barrier.
I'll also give Mike a shout-out that these are quality units. I have 3 of them. :) No such problem as heat-soak. Think about it guys, the only time you would have heatsoak is if the engine is shut off and the air in the intercooler is stagnant. When it's running, even parked, air rushing through the inside of the intercooler will never let is raise more than a degree or 2.

Ah, I noticed that. I haven't committed to one of your rad/IC's yet, but I was thinking about what I could squeeze in there when I do.

I sandwiched a rectangular section of foil insulator between my IC and the shorty rad. It has stayed in place nicely, and I assume it is beneficial.

Here's my final install. I got a boost leak somewhere I need to track down. I literally bought piece for piece what he bought in his first post, aside from the radiator fan, which I had one laying around from a past... project (that never got started).

Was the easiest install I've ever done for anything on this cursed car. I removed my AC condenser while I was there, but it can still be kept if you want to keep your AC. Hardest part was trying to use a jack and 2x4 to balance the radiator while I bolted it up there myself. I ended up having to use a spacer on the top side of the radiator flange where it bolts up; if I bolted it up right, my hood would not shut for some reason :?

The best part of this setup is being able to keep your A/C.

Or maybe it is because it is 1/10th the cost of Dave Planakis radiator/inter-cooler combo.

I am definitely going this route when I finally am able to continue working on my XR. Hopefully towards the end of this summer.

For some reason, I cannot edit my last post. But I moved some images around in my dropbox folder and that link no longer works. Here is the updated link, along with an imgur link for archival purposes.

Yeah, I wish there was a place that could store the pictures other than links on a thread. There are or have been many photo references taken and then lost.

Mike has some pix on his site, which is where you're gonna go to to order it, anyway:

http://www.merkur.50megs.com/photo2_1.html

Also, an excellent source for stored pix is on Picture Pages at Merkur Tech:

http://www.merkurtech.com/merkurtech/pi ... s/main.php

Sort by "Intercoolers," and I believe Mike's is the first one featured (along with many others). Merkur Tech is an absolute gem, and, I believe, underutilized and -appreciated.

Enjoy.
