Hi, will a .3 turbo Ford Thunderbird 1988 with automatic transmission fit on my 85 XR? this is wrote on this EEC E7ZF-12A650-B1D

It will fit, but there is rewiring needed, as well as the addition of an Air Charge Temperature sensor (ACT) in the intake manifold, and an intercooler. But the automatic model will not give as aggressive performance as the 5-speed, if I recall correctly. I don't know the specifics, so if anyone does, please chime in.

so, it will fit on my XR if I do the rewiring, big VAM and intercooler?
man wants about 170bucks for this EEC. how much does it cost in US?

I got my LA3 (from a manual tranny 88 TC) for around $90 with shipping across the US. That's a pretty typical price.

FWIW, I got the LA3 that is in my car for $20 from the U-Pull-It junkyard.

He's not talking about the LA3, though; it's the Auto version. I forget the nomenclature, and I'm too rushed to look it up. Who knows the differences in tables, etc?

Its an LB3, I believe, and from what I've read, the maps are just as aggressive as the LA3, mainly has the addition of transmission control. There was a recent thread on turboford:

The one from the A4LD-equipped '87/8 TC would be a 8UA or LB3. If anything, they should be LESS expensive than a LA3. The ignition and fuel mapping are actually very close for any of these. You need one from an auto car if you're running the A4LD, but either will work fine if you're running a 5-speed.

I am glad I own a 88TC 5 speed. Sure will make it alot easier already having the LA3 (35k) and big VAM. I am using the lower intake from the TC. I believe that is where the ACT sensor is located, as long as all the other sensor/plugins are the same as the XR's.
My TC body is going to the junkyard(it's shot). I have already took out the rear end, which it's going into a 87 LX 5.0 project car of mine, the motor from my TC is already in setting in my 85 XR, gonna do the LA3/big VAM and T5 conversion in a few months.
I checked on a SVO EEC at my local AutoZone. They said $95 for the EEC with $65 core charge, maybe I could try to change in one of my PK's if they didn't run the parts #

unfortunately, there are NO spare LA3s here in Estonia. and to buy a new one, its rather expensive. this is the only one EEC that I can buy here. may be someone of you will help me and send me from US LA3 and big VAM. IÂ´ll pay all the costs.

Only the '85.5/'86 Mustang SVO PCM would be swap-able into a stock XR, and they are about 100X more rare than one from a TC. N/A Mustang PCM's would be of no value, if that's what you are asking.

I've seen this EEC today. It's a LB3. so, can I put those in my manual XR? sorry for silly question, but I want to fing out everything about this.

and also the auto can work, but you'd have to rig some stuff up to get 4th gear to work
