Side by side internals Std XR4Ti and Scorpio Cosworth LSD

Post by fastswede »

I did not see what I expected when I opened up the 24v Scorpio diff I bought so I opened up the stock lump for a visual comparison. Pretty interesting packaging of the LSD!

The diff is in the car now and it was indeed a true bolt in replacement of the stock lump.

What a great side-by-side pic comparo! Awesome, thanks.

Are these diffs hard to come by?

In the US, close to impossible.

I found mine on German Ebay and there is another one available right now
http://cgi.ebay.de/Scorpio-II-2-9l-24V- ... dZViewItem

Don't buy it quite yet though!

Obviously the good news is that the 'Buy now' price is 99 Euro. The bad news is that airfreight over here is ~$300 (FedEx was least expensive when I checked). Bad news #2 is that the German seller might not communicate very well in English (I used babelfish for the initial communication and then had my dad translate). Bad news #3 is that there is a bit of paperwork to be done by the shipper (you might be able to complete the paperwork yourself and overnight to the seller). Bad news #4 is that the diff, because of the grease and oil is considered hazardous material for air freight and requires special packaging, with the accompanying hazardous material fee...

I tried to find a way to get mine shipped by boat but couldn't figure out how to from here and I ended up shipping it up to my parent's house in Sweden and then brought it back here as luggage on my last trip home.

'Someone' (JVAB?) with friends/ close relatives in Germany should be able to collect several of these and pack them up in a crate sent over here on a ship. With an average buying price of 100 Euro (about what I paid for mine also) there should even be an opportunity for profit.
