Re the rubber hose, is there a longitudinal crack in its midsection?

The hose, where you see it swollen, if I were to say clamp one end and put air pressure in the other end, it would swell and then expand, opening up like fish gills? Hard to explain, probably harder to understand by my poor explanation. If the hose is reinforced with string in a X fashion, when you put pressure to it, it would open up between all the X's.

Re the HVAC dash vent doors, remove the fascias (easy pry with a flat bladed screwdriver) to see if they are twisted or not:

The HVAC seems to be working, not sure on the fine details just yet, but vents are moving & stuff, so...???

The issue shown in the photo is if the internal doors (just inside of the adjustable vents), close tightly (when HVAC so commands), stay in perfect horizontal open (ditto), e.g. The doors often are twisted from motor torque/weakened plastic in opening/closing fully.

You can tell nothing about this from hearing the motors whirl and the doors make some sounds.

Gotta look at them.

Recent pics from installing a new pump in an XR (~140K) of the original filter and pump, and the filter after U thoroughly cleaned it.

I believe when new the filter material was either a color similar to as shown cleaned or possibly another color than changes into that when submerged in gasoline over time.

I thoughly/Thoroughly cleaned that filter. There were some black deposits inside in a few areas (the filter did its job).

The OE filter material is quite strong/resistant to tearing.

(I'm posting pics, from my phone, separately from my phone so they don't get mixed up or duplicated as in the past).
